Leaping Forward to…

We’re about to embark on our journey to move to Bali and work remotely with our digital tools. We now have one month left in Dubai and there is so much research work to be done from moving what we currently have here to the new city we are moving to.

Where do we start, first we started by looking at the list of cities we could potentially move to based on the visas we could get easily. I am Singaporean and my partner is Italian, visas are not difficult to get.

We narrowed down to these cities below:

  1. Bali
  2. Thailand
  3. Berlin
  4. Australia
  5. NY
  6. Barcelona
  7. Vietnam

After reading around about the different cities, quality of life, standard of living, we chose Bali. I’ve been to Bali a few times and it has always been enjoyable and the digital/startup scene seems to be booming there.

After choosing Bali, I gathered information from friends, acquaintances and best of ALL the Facebook Communities in Bali.

Side note: Facebook Community Groups are the BEST way to understand the location, community, people and what’s happening. In Dubai we moved into a new area and was clueless about the location, where was around the compound etc.. Getting updates on the new speed camera or the new supermarket is always a bonus!

There are several locations that we could potentially settle down in Bali.

  1. Kuta
  2. Seminyak
  3. Ubud
  4. Canggu
  5. Sanur

These are the places I’ve read or been recommended. We’ve eventually narrowed the selection down to Seminyak or Canggu.

Kuta is a party place, it’s a good place to go a have fun but perhaps but the best place for a longer term stay. Ubud look gorgeous but for now, we want somewhere we can walk around, get to places easily as oppose to biking for an hour to a beach.

Now that we know where we want to go and which area we want to stay, it’s time to look for accommodations. I will update in another blog post of the ones we’ve shortlisted.
